INTRODUCTION

Salispils concentration camp (also called Kurtenhof) was located amidst a pine forest, 40 km southeast of Riga. The memorial at the site includes the imposing and moving statues, The Mother, The Humiliated, The Unbroken, and Solidarity as well as a small museum about life in the camp.

One can reach Salispils by train from Riga. Get off at Darzini, and then walk 15 minutes on the path through the pine forest to Salispils.
