| Life Saving Gift Fund SAVE A LIFE FOR $1.50 WHY? The Holocaust strikes an emotional chord. We may be related to or know people who perished or survived, or may be a survivor ourselves. Many of us hope that we would do something if genocide were occurring all around us, as was the case more than half a century ago. It's a sad story. Genocide and related types of deaths are occurring all over the world. In the 21st century that is all around us - a few hour's travel away. In addition to the types of genocide outlined at Never Again, it is estimated that 22,000 people a day - more than 8,000,000 people a year - die of starvation. So as we learn, document and repeat the story of the Holocaust of the 1940's, we also have the ability to save lives in today's world. How? There are many charities that engage in activities that save lives. You may know of one or more. Please contribute to them and make a difference. Another alternative is the charity described below. Where you give is less important than having an impact and saving one or more lives.
LIFE-SAVING GIFT FUND The Life-Saving Gift Fund was established solely to make it easy for people to save lives from death due to genocide, epidemic and famine. The Fund's board of directors carefully selects projects around the world to receive it's funds. Recipients must provide assurances that the funds will be used directly and only to save lives. The Life-Saving Gift Fund minimizes overhead through the use of donated services for administration and defrays remaining administrative costs with board member contributions. The suggested minimum contribution is $18 - $1.50/month. In Hebrew, letters are used for numbers and 18 spells "chai," Hebrew for life. Of course, contributions in any amount are gratefully accepted. Contributions may be mailed to: Life-Saving Gift Fund Please include a return e-mail or postal address, so we may thank you for your gift and inform you of how it is used.
